About Us

Tompkinsville Aviation is a full service FBO located in south central Kentucky, 45 miles east of Bowling Green and 80 miles north of Nashville, Tennessee.  Our airport identifier is TZV.  The airfield has a 4,000’ X 75’ asphalt runway, pilot lounge, and 100LL fuel available.

Tompkinsville Aviation is more than just an FBO.  We provide general aircraft maintenance, inspections, and quality aircraft refurbishment.  Tompkinsville Aviation is your one-stop shop for single and light twins to get everything you need.

We have over 23 years experience in aircraft restoration, specializing in fabric recovering and painting. We've restored aircraft from WWI fighters to WWII bombers, aerobatic aircraft from Pitts Specials to Citabrias, antiques and classics, and modern aircraft up to medium sized twins.  Restoring aircraft is much more than just painting or recovering the plane.  In order to totally restore an aircraft we have added to our paint and recovering shops an interior shop, an engine overhaul shop, prop shop, fabrication shop, as well as the ability to upgrade instruments and avionics.  Bring your aircraft to us for custom or factory paint, interior, engine overhaul, prop overhaul, or for instrument or avionics upgrades.

Tompkinsville Aviation is not a high volume maintenance facility.  Our mindset is on quality, not quantity. When it comes to aircraft maintenance and restoration, we have an extremely high percentage of repeat business and have refurbished multiple aircraft for some customers.  In fact, we’ve been in business long enough to refurbish the same aircraft twice for the same customer!  Our commitment to quality and excellence is rewarded by our high percentage of return customers.

In this day and age of specialization, Tompkinsville Aviation has decided to specialize in the unique needs of the private aircraft owner, maintenance of single engine and light twins, and in recovering fabric aircraft, which is increasingly becoming a lost and dying art.

Tompkinsville Aviation is owned by Jon and Lori Foote.  The Footes have owned and operated aircraft restoration businesses for the past 23 years, most recently operating Kimball Air Center in Kimball, Nebraska, from 1996-2006.  Kimball Air Center brought in over 95% of its business from outside the economic base of Kimball County, having a positive impact on Kimball's economy.  Footes opened Tompkinsville Aviation in June 2007.

Whether you’re flying cross-country and need to stop for fuel and a friendly smile or have an aircraft to totally refurbish, Tompkinsville Aviation is the place for you.
